I got this fish because I wanted to see what it would grow out to look like. It's 2" and was very very skinny when I got her. I know she is a poor quality and I don't think I will be keeping her in the long run. I just want to see what she will look like once a bit larger.

Any idea what she is? This is her now I have had her for a few weeks. Could she just be a brown discus?

Its stress bars are very narrow, may have some snakeskin in it.. as for the main strain.....Thats a hard one as its not colored up much...Might be a brown based cross...could also be a throw back from a Red snakeskin cross.

Fish may not have the best shape and eye size to body ratio....but it has a healthy look to the eyes..
It'll be interesting to watch develop I am sure....post pics please as it does. Who knows... I had a friend that had one with Similar traits and it turned out to be a fairly decent adult.

Good luck with her,
al

Thanks He is kind of my experiment fish. Despite some defects and looking like he was starved at the Store he is a healthy hardy little fish with a cute face.

I will definitely pose other photos as he changes.

Yes, I agree that it looks like a snakeskin. It should develop to have adult colors, but may not grow a whole lot, and probably very slowly. It may not get much bigger than 4" or so as a mature adult. It's not "carved in stone" however, and I've been wrong before. :D

UPDATE:
Here he is now a few months later. He is 3.5" now and still growing a bit. Still just brown with a bit more blue.
