guys,

I brought a new Eheim 2213 Classic canister filter and just wondering which are the filter medias should use and the tank will be exclusively for discus fishes. So, please advice which are the filter medias i should use. Right now i have bought Bio Rings and Activated carbons. Can i use them...?

Regards

I'd lose the carbon the rings should be fine. I've got eheim substrate plus and bio mech for my pro 3e 2076

So, should i get rid of the carbon and should only use the rings...?

I would suggest blue sponge on the bottom, then the bio rings and on the top aquarium cotton (i dont know how do you call it in english). This is how i run my 2217.You can skip the last one but it works fine for my it holds a lot of gunk that you just throw away and replace.

I would use the blue sponge rings and either filter floss or at least another blue sponge JMO:D:D

Just use what they give you. You don't need the carbon. Rocks and sponge for bio filter and on top the white pad To polish the water. That's how I have run mine for years. It's if you are going to run 2 together then you would fill one with rocks only for extra bio filtering and the other use to polish the water. But you have one filter so use it all. Rocks at bottom for better water flow.
