1. Please explain the problems with your fish/when and how they started

Small ich like spots on pectoral, dorsal fin and some on body and are only on the discus, but not on any other fish

2. Symptoms (i.e. turning dark, excess slime, not eating, clamped fins, flashing, darting, clamped gills, white/yellow/green poop, hiding, headstanding or tailstanding, white on tips of fins, rotting or fungus, blisters/ white zits on fish, bloated, cloudy eyes, wounds)
12 2-3inch discus, still eating, no clamped fins except for the smallest one which looks the worst and has the most spots

3. What medications/ treatments that you have already tried and results. Include dosages and duration of treatment.
Just did a 25-40% w/c and added 10 TBLS of salt, 100G tank

Tank/Water

4. Tank size and age, number and size of fish
100G 12 juvies, 3 clown loaches, 8 neon tetras

5. Water change regime/ how long has tank been running/ bare bottom or gravel/ do you age your water?
Tanks been running for almost 2 months, 25-40%w/c every 2 days, aged water, gravel

6 Parameters and water source;

- temp _____82

- ph _____7.8

- ammonia reading ____0

- nitrite reading ____0

- nitrate reading ____10

- well water ____No

- municipal water ____Yes

7. Any new fish/plants added recently
Yes, 3 clown loaches within the week

I'm going to bump up the temp to 85. But how often do I add the salt besides replacing the quantity for my w/cs????
Thanx

Your loaches and tetras won't handle the salt. I'd put the entire container of salt in a 100 gallon if you are dedicated to doing a salt treatment for ich. My honest suggestion is to go with Quick Cure instead of the salt. The lloaches/tetras will not be able to handle this either.

Thank you for the response. But what do you mean by entire container???
And here are some pics to let me know what you guys think. Sorry for the bad quality.....

Yeah, I'd use Quick Cure instead. Earlier you started a thread on the iodized salt, THAT whole container would be about right. Use one or the other, salt or Quick Cure, NOT both.

Anytime, and I'll tell you, if you treat for parasites, watch for secondary bacteria infection. Have some Furan-2 on hand just in case. Its not uncommon for fish to crash after parasite treatments.

For the last two to three years, I just bump up the temp to about 88. In about two weeks, ich no more. Works like a charm everytime. No salt, no quick cure. I have an unopened large bottle of quick cure sitting around.

Depends on whether or not the problem goes away with salt. You can increase the temp but today there are ich varieties that are unaffected by higher temps.

Ok, but if I decide to do the quick cure route. What temp do you recommend the tank be?
And thank you for all the responses............

I decided to go with the quick cure treatment to try to get the fastest results. But I do have two more questions Eddie.
Should I continue to feed during the treatment?
Should I do a w/c during the treatment besides the one after the treatment is completed??

I dont feed during formalin treatments. If the fish are begging for food, then yes, feed them something like a pellet. I've seen where people have fed live blackworms during formalin treatments and lost a lot of fish. For this reason, I'd skip any worms just to be safe.

No water changes, only the one before the second and third treatment.

Not sure how much quicker quick cure really would be if at all, but you would still have to dose the tank for two week to make sure.

Not with Quick Cure, 3 days and done, probably faster even but it is recommended for 3 days.

So one w/c on the second day, then one on the third? What about brine shrimp or beef heart for feedings??

feed clean foods when medicating and water changes limited. FDBW are good

No, you will perform a waterchange before every re-dose.
