Question about pigeon blood strain

Does anyone know why the pigeon blood strain is called "pigeon blood" does it have something to do with the guy who discovered it/ resemblence to a pigeon? i dont know any info will help thx guys.

From what I understood, it had to do with the red coloring of the original fish...Bill

PB originally refers to the finest quality ruby. Kitti named the mutation as PB because of the bloody red iris of PB.
