Can anyone tell me about my water?

Hi to all,I filled up a barrel last night and the water was 6.0 and i did a test this morning and it is 7.4. Is this water unriliable to use? Can i adjust it? I dont have anything to test hardness.I will be getting soon. thanks anyone for a reply.

The change in ph may be due to disolved gasses in the source water. Aging allows these gasses (often CO2) to escape, which causes the ph to rise. 7.4 is a fine ph for discus, so no need to adjust for that. I would definately test for Carbonate Hardness to ensure that the ph will remian stable.
