I am new to this and have a Reaction-4 EFU 45 Canister Filter. The filter media set up is:

Basket 1
1) Layer black coarse sponge
Basket 2
1) Layer white fine Filter Floss
Basket 3
1) Layer white fine Filter Floss
Basket 4
1) Ceramic Rings - 500g
2) Layer white fine Filter Floss

The carbon was originally in Basket 3 but based on info from reading I have removed it. Should I replace it with something else? More bio-media?

Thanks,
Leslie

From the pics, here-

It looks like the first stage of your filter is at the top, so that's where you want the coarse sponge. Next comes the ceramic rings, followed by whatever you want, with filter floss as the final stage at the bottom. I just use layers of ceramic rings or similar media in my own filters after the sponge, because I'm not concerned with the water polishing effect of the floss.

I'd only use the coarse sponge and porous rings. First basket - sponge, second and third - rings and fourth - sponge.

Thanks for the input folks. I'll add some more rings to the empty basket and get another sponge. I really appreciate the help.
