Rena Air 400 or Tetra Whisper AP 300

Hello everyone, I am looking at setting up a 170 gallon that is 30" tall and am wondering which pump is/would be the best for this tank? The Rena 400 or the Whisper AP 300? I am going to have two Hydro V sponge filters on which ever pump I buy. I have seen many reviews on both, most good on both but would like your oponions and experiences. Thanks in advance for your advice and help, Brian

wow, no one has any experience with either of these air pumps?? Surprising! Is there something out there better than either of these two pumps for running two Hydro V sponge filters in a 170 gallon tank?

I've use the Rena 400 and a few 200 or 300 until a few months ago. My experience is the 400 is that it's very powerful. I had 4 sponge running on 2 75gal tank with the Rena 400. I have not exprience with the Whisper. If I was going back to individual pump again, I would go with the Rena.

i am using some 2nd hand Rena 400 for some my hydro sponges.. they work pretty good and very quite! even with them messing the little pegs underneath.. :)
