I'm in the same boat. I NEVER buy fish from the LFS but I went by yesterday to pick up a little pleco set-up and I saw a beauty of a fish. Totally unlike the LFS to have this size fish and the color is very interesting. If I go by there today, its mine. Since I am living in the dorms, thats plenty of space from my existing stock for QT purposes. Plus this dog will undergo some thorough cleaning up. :)

I second what Jennie said - didn't expect to hear something like that from you, Eddie.
Must be a super, healthy fish, with some great, or unusual coloration & shape.
Would like to see it, if you drop by & make it yours !

I know, I'm a LFS hater but this fish is decent and very low cost. The shape is what has me, very clean and uniform. ;)

I don't know....the LFS in Japan is a little different the LFS in the US. I'll just leave it at that. They have lots of Amano set-ups to showcase his equipment and tons of different fresh and saltwater fish. They have an Arowana tank with an Aro that could eat me! LOL

Mhmm, Im just nervous cause ive never had them before lo. and i dont want it dying on me 0.0 i just finished a major clean on my soon to be quarantine thank though. the test came out pretty good, .1-nitrite. 0-ammonia for both tanks

Now Garret, as you know discus do better in at minimum a breeding pair, or in groups...though I've read that a couple people have kept them singly, successfully.
You've been a member here for 13 months and I am positive you've read these forums at least 3x, right, lol! Know your parameters, ask the stores parameters so you don't shock yours.. keep temp at min. 82 degrees, keep tank spotless, do your water changes and away you go

As Jennie mentioned, you have been at this stage for some time now with uncertainty and I think I know why.
Would it be that if this Discus dies, your parents will not let you get anymore?
I think you have it in you to make this work. I say go for it and bring that fish home tomorrow.

What does it matter if the fish bars are a little different. Does it mean the fish is unhealthy if the bars are not perfect? I really don't think it does. So what does it matter. Do you plan on showing the fish? I personally think that the health and shape of the fish is way more import then markings. That is just me.

Go save the fish already. The LFS is no place for a Discus.

A couple of the wild discus I get a couple of weeks ago have uneven bars so I would not worry about that.
