I just used the API Ammonia water test kit for the first time ever... In the past, I've used Jungle test strips.

Anyway, I got the following readings:

Tank 1: 0.25 ppm (WC once a week, planted)
Tank 2: 0.25 ppm (WC 50% twice per day, BB)
Tank 2: 60% WC - 0.25 ppm
Tap Water: 0 ppm
Tap Water w/ Dechlorinator : 0 ppm (Just in case I had chloramine in the water, just as a check, b/c I know I don't).

Anyway, is the 0.25 ppm an upperbound? As in, it means it's between 0 and 0.25 ppm? Or does it mean it's 0.25-0.50ppm? IF the latter, what do you suppose the cause is of the no change in ammonia reading?

Normally, the Jungle test strips read ZERO, but I don't have any on hand right now...

What product do you use to dechlorinate your water? The API ammonia kits have a false positive reading if you use Seachems Prime dechlorinator.

I use sodium thiosulfate. However, that's why I tested the tap water (w/ and w/o the dechlorinator).

Oh and my nitrate levels in both tanks were 0 using the API test...
