I tested the PH of my tapwater, and it was 8.4!
Now i understand why my discus keep dying! Before the water even gets to my tank, it's PH is already so high.. But is there a way to lower the PH of my tapwater? Is it possible to change the PH of the tapwater? Or is there another way around this?

I really need to lower the PH so that it would be appropriate for my Discus, please help!
Thanks in Advance!

they should not be harmed with a ph of 8.4 alone, as long as it stays around there. If it were 7.4 and it went to 8.4 in a matter hours then yes. look for other issues like ammonia, nitrite etc.

I know people who keep Discus sucessfully in high pH water. Do you age your WC water or use it straight from the tap?

It could be anything killing your fish, but not a ph of 8.4

Have you tested your water after is sets over night or right out of the tap? It can change very drastically in a few hours depending on your treatment being done ay the water works. Let it stand in a bucket with an air stone over night and then check ph.
