I had an earlier thread asking about mixing wilds with hybrids/domestics. Well, I went with adding 2 wilds to my tank. They are Tefes and are about 4". My tank is 55 gal and has two canister filters: Eheim 2213 and Fluval 305. Other discus are two pigeon blood and a cobalt blue.

Are you using real or fake plants?

All the plants are plastic. The 'jungle vines' are waterproof and I wanted them to simulate roots. The wilds swim more between the 'roots' and seem to appreciate them more than the domestics ... seriously!

Look great Peter.
You have done a great job with the tank layout.
Your pigeon's may show more peppering with the dark substrate. I see more tanks in the near future being in Winnipeg with Dale and Spencer.

Thanks to both moon_knight and to Ralph for the kind comments. Ralph, you are right about 'more tanks' ... I purchased the Tefes today from Spencer.

I was in on your earlier post about mixing wilds with domestics, with positive encouragement if the new wilds were quarantined.
What - it appears no quarantine of the new wilds ? I hope your luck holds out. Let us know how things are in 3-4 weeks. Best of luck.

Hi Discuspaul,
Thanks and I did take the quaranteen advice to heart. It actually made me double-think my purchase as my tank is currently so healthy. I live in a condominium and space is really so tight that I just have room for this one tank ... so no quarateen tank. I asked Spencer who imports these wilds if I needed to treat them and I was told not to worry and that they were quarantined for 3 weeks. Well, we will find out. Thanks for wishing me luck and I will give a status in 3-4 weeks.
Regards,
Peter

Great response, Peter. I do feel better.
I do sincerely wish you well, and look forward to a further post when all has settled down. Meantime, your tank seems clean, clear & healthy - your stock is good & well treated with pre-QT, so you should be good.

It looks good.
Personal opinion.....it would look more natural if you replace the marble with small, natural stones or boulders.
Wow! That is one clear tank. Are you using any chemical filteration media? Good luck with your set up. Looks great! I also have domestic and wilds, but slowly replacing all my domestics with wilds.

@ Doc_Polit Thanks for that observation and I will consider it for the next rescape
@ YSS I do use a chemical filtration media. It is called Purigen from Seachem. Lately I have not had it in and the water seems just as clear. Also, I have a UV sterilizer at the output of the Eheim 2213 and I am told that it can add to the clarity. Frankly, I would chaulk it up to having the 2 canister filters and the frequent water changes. I am not a proponent of the 'fancy-shmancy' but I do believe in doing my utmost for high quality water.
@ roybo Thank you!
Best to all,
Peter

Well .... it has been about 4 weeks since I added the 2 Tefe Green Wilds. I was not able to properly quarantine them as per thread item #9 above. Happy to report all discus are doing well and no signs of illness.
