After trying for long .. today my dream came true :) :) as i received 17 blue faced heckels from Hudson. I am extremely satisfied with the quality of the fishes. Man they are huge .... some of them are already close to 6 inches in size. Never even imagined that i would be getting such big fishes when i had placed the order.

Special thanks to Hudson and Stephen ( Hong Kong ) for helping me get them. I had ordered the fishes from Hudson through Stephen (Hong Kong). Currently the fishes are slightly stressed because of the travel and are in the quarantine tank. I will be posting the picture of the fishes and tank once they settle down.

Thanks once again to Hudson. You are the best when it come to the Wild Discus ...

Here are some shots that i tried today. They are still getting used to my tank. As usual they move around when the tank lights are switched off and there is only the room light. Also my water is tea brown in color because of the peat and Alder Cones and as a result cannot take photos that easily. Using full RO water with hardness at 60 ppm and pH at 5.8 as of now. will slowly reduce the pH when they are fully settled.

Work is in progress on the LED setup which I will be using in the main tank.

Hi - I also got Hudson's wilds recently and they are fantastic. Can others in the forum give us newbies a timeline of how wilds acclimate over time - for eg, I am also experiencing the wilds only moving around when the lights are off. They are eating very well - but when lights are on or when they are not eating, they just stay in their favorite corner. How does acclimation occur over time? What would new owners know what's normal and what's not? What can new owners do to facilitate acclimation? thx

P/S: Aquatechnics has a great "Conditioning of Wilds article". http://www.aquatechnics.net/wild_discus_conditioning.htm

For sfdiscus, you have a lot of good and valid questions and concerns on keeping wild discus. I think you should start a new thread here in the amazon section so they can be addressed all in one thread. I've seen several good questions from you on water conditions, lighting, plants and acclimation time. Remember there is no one right way to keep your discus so you will see some differences when people answer them. It might be a good idea to add what size tank you have, how many and which strain and your current water, lighting and filtering.

I think you need to put some sticks and driftwood in there. It will make them feel much more relaxed, even if it is a quarantine tank. Being constantly in the open is unnatural for them. No wonder they tend to move around only when the lights are out.. I dislike the thought of fiddling too much with PH as well. Color is good, I would leave well enough alone. I drop and plop wilds in a PH of 6, and maintain it. They do fine, and the bio filter works well.

Amazing blue heckels. Love their soft powder blue color. Which location river/lake were these caught from? Is the one with darker center bar a blue moon or are they all considered blue face?

Wilds have never been my cup of tea, but these fish have a look that I am fond of. I may need to consider a tank of Wilds in the future. Of course this will be the 200 gallon tank that I keep asking for Christmas for the living room. Can someone help me persuade my wife!!!

I truly am amazed. I wish I had one Blue Face Heckel. Well
maybe three, so the one could have friends. They are
stunning and big. May I ask a somewhat ridiculous
question? What are you going to do with 17 Blue Face
Heckels? Do you have a tank big enough for them.
I would love to see it!

All heckels have that strong centerbar.
