the fry keep attaching to the sponge filter-this batch is more stubborn than most...was wondering how long i can keep the sponge filter out, and just keep an air stone in?
as for now the sponge out of that tank is in a 55g with some bristlenose.

As soon as the fry have good attachment to the parents.

well...i thought they did have good attachment, put filter back in and went back to it-ive done this in the past as u stated and worked after a few hours.
going on about 10 hours, there attached-but still have just airstone in.
think they be ok overnight with the light staying on?

Yeah, should be fine. I usually give them about 24 hours after attachment to add the sponge back. You are still doing water changes I assume?

You might try slipping a nylon knee high over it. Keeps babies out and catches bbs later too for later snacking. I've not had them attract toward the normal nude colors.

Or wrap filter wool around it.
