Hi all
I have a 200lt aquarium i know its on the small side but have tryed to give my discus a
natural home as possible.
I have 2 large ex/filters on tank with plenty of mature media plus have really soft water from tap.
Doing 2 wc weekly with treated well stored water and fish seem fine feeding on prima/frozen brine and blood.
Discus are 2in now and was bought from a local breeder and have a little wild brown in them.
I have 4 and are going to bring them on and get a larger aquarium.
Also have wild emperor tetras and cory burggesi and adlofis.
Will post photos soon.

Excellent start on a planted tank!

I do see one issue possibly as there appears to be many pointed branches that could hurt the discus once they are grown. If they get startled, they could run into these pointed edges. You may want to remove some of the smaller branches sticking out. Other than that a great start.

2 wc a week? what do you feed? I think you need to up the wc's to give those fish every chance to reach their potential..JMO..the tank is very nice but I agree, remove some branches!

Will do more wc really easy.Feeding 4-5 times a day with prima and a mix of blood/brine shrimp.

Your WC, what is the volume? Twice is good but only if you are doing 90% or more - once large, single 90% a week will do but of course, the more the better.

Out of interest; what wood did you use? I can never find the perfect branch or root in shops but have always been a bit reluctant to try branches that i find out and about 'in the wild'.

thanks, and a great looking tank!!

What is the background you're using? Is it a background or is it a bunch of actual rocks? I used to lean/tile the back of my aquarium with big flat rocks but I found that discus got caught back there during water changes and died. Or a lot of junk (poop, food, etc) get trapped back there and it's a pain to clean. Further, it's a pain to get smaller fish when you want to net them because they can hide back there.

If it's a background did you make it or buy it? I've been looking at getting one of those for a while because of the low maintenance aspect of it.

Thanks everybody.
The background is natural yorkstone and very safe it looks much better when viewing than on photos. The big slab is very tight
against wall plus i have others bits were discus can get behind.
I have removed emporas and corys and added 20 wild cardinals for some colour.
My water changes are doing enough as my nitrates are very low am turning tank volume off 200lt 12x with two tetratec 1200.

Am going to be moving discus on and doing a biotope with checkerboards and cardinals and some other wilds.
Discus are doing fine but i feel my aquarium is not large enough and my friend is puting them in 6ft.
I will get back into discus and get wilds when i get a 6x2x2.
