hello to all i just recently joined the site. ive been a discus fan ever since i set up my first tank three years ago. i always kept them with angelfish but have slowly gotten away with doing that anymore. i just recently changed out my 55 with a black background and black gravel and a custom made stand was not an easy task to switch over but the tank has stabilized as soon as im able i'll post some pics.

ps. if you have black gravel/background.. it can cause your Pigeon Bloods to become heavily peppered.. i was just saying, if it doesn't bother you.. then neva mind :) ..

if your avatar is one of your round fish :)

Only if the pigeon has the ability/genetic capacity to pepper heavily.

Isn't that being a strain-ist, there really isn't a pigeon blood race and all. LOL

all three of my discus are peppered. the one in my avatar is about five year old PB. i also have a checkerboard and somekind of leopard that i have bought in the past year at an expo. i got pics but i cant post them until i have ten post??? so if their already peppered it can get worst with all the black??

Welcome aboard. Yes, the darker the background/substrate the more pepper that will appear. Your leopard shouldn't be peppered unless there is some PB in it.
