I have a 55gal tank with 5 discus, 2 rams, 2 algae eaters with a sand bottom. My temp is 86 and my filter is a marineland bio-wheel power filter emperor 400. When I first setup the tank and put in the drift wood it gave the water a yellow tint to it. I would like to get that back what can I use to get the yellow tint?

Any of the bottled Blackwater Extracts sold. Or make your own by boiling a pot of aquarium/fish safe peat moss, and add the liquid to your tank. Tho carbon will remove it if you have it in your filter...Bill

So I should remove the carbon from my filter? And add a blackwater extract.

By fish safe, I mean peat moss with no added ferts to it. I get mine at Home Depot...but if it's just a tank or two, can order some Sera peat nuggets or the like and boil...Bill

Thanks Bill, I look for it today in home depot and found some over where the orchids are. Is that the correct place?

hmm, can someone tell me why you would want a yellow tint in the tank?

It's actually a faded brown from the peat..Canadian peat as well as almond leaves etc. produces softer water with humic and amino acids and things wild fish are accustomed to..That's the short version, anyway..

Kent blackwater expert. It's the most concentrated. Very little does a lot. ;)

Indian Almond leaves. So easy, no mixing , no boiling, just drop them in. But remember what ever you use may get washed out by charcoal use in your Emperor
