Hi,
Just joined simplydiscus and been mad posting to get my 10 hits lol. I'm fairly new to discus, but I have done a ton of research. I've got my first batch of discus in January this year and all seem to be going well ATM with them. Tell me what you guys think!

Very nice looking fish. How large were they when you bought them? I just got 4 juvie brilliant turqouise in feb and they def don't look that nice yet. :-) love the colors thought. Can't wait till mine a that good looking.

Hmm, in all honesty, they look about average, or below, and a wee bit 'finney'.....could be the camera....

I agree with Turq...they need to be eating more, and be a bit "meatier"...Bill

A few look okay but the rest are below average. There are a few that look to be emaciating, or thin.

What do you feed them?

Yeah... There are 2 groups of discus here. 1 group was when I first started(beginner discus) those would be the turqs ( got them in october). Then my second group (end of December/January) I spent abit more money and it consisted with the 2 pigeon blood, 2 browns, and the big blue guy (think he is some sort of snake). I feed them frozen bw + bs + bh. They also get a good helping of tetra bits and Cory sinking pellets daily. Don't ask me why they steal my cory's food but they do it. Opened the light one time in the middle of the night and caught one of my turqs taking down the whole pellet.

Here is a pic of the turqs when I got them....its a little blurry but they were very small and had very little color to them. Tell you the truth I didn't even think they would survive, since I was talking with a fellow fish keeper that informed me the place I got them came from a pretty low quality breeder in asia. But these turqs did grow in size, not really gurth but just taller and longer.
