Hi folks,

I was just wondering what sort of tank size is minimum/maximum recommended for a breeding pair of discus?

The breeders i have been to seem to have them in quite small tanks. One explained that this is for helping the fry etc.

I have a 70L tank which i was told was a good size...correct?

70 litre is fine, shape is perhaps more important imo/e square floor being better than rectangle (don't know why - just is :o)

Thanks,

I was told since posting here that if the tank is too shallow, the discus may struggle to lay eggs on the cone...so a 16 inch high is a good minimum. Also recommended 24x12 inch min for swimming.

My tank is 24x12x14 high, so should be enough for swimming, and we'll see how they get on spawning!

Thanks for the replies!
