Im going to be honest with y'all, I am SICK of these moody little boogers. I'm not a newbie discus keeper by any means and id like to say I've done my best with this group of heckels but they are just not for me.
They've been in my qt tank for months now and just when I thought I had them all warmed up and friendly I moved their qt tank to a new spot in the house to set up their 125 display in their original spot and now they're back at it... Wnt have anything to do with me, just give them the damn food and move along they say! Bah! :o

First 350.00 takes the group.

They take ages to settle sometimes. Sorry to hear you are not happy with them. I'd take them in a second.

Melissa, I think you should give them a little more time. You have a lot of effort into these little guys. Don't throw in the towel quite yet. You are almost to home base. You can do this.

I just want the awesome display tank I'm setting up to be filled with nice, beautiful CALM easy going discus... Something I can sit back and enjoy at the end of the day. I do love these heckels and they are beautiful but I don't have the patience any more. I know it's awful to throw in the towel like this, but like you said Pat... I've put a lot into these guys and the back and forth is just too much for me. I dont want to put these guys in the display only to have to pull them back out because of this or that or worrying they're ill or whatever. I have such limited tank space in my apartment because of the breeding I've got going on, keeping them in their qt tank any longer is just not practical either. I need that tank for more babies. My RT x leopard pair is guarding a huge clutch of eggs right now :D

It is nerve wracking not knowing when these guys are going to decide to spook, then I have to worry about them hurting themselves. I'm trying to get back to keeping it simple, and I want to start over with properly conditioned fish ready to go into the display.
For anyone looking to work with wilds, these are very beautiful fish. I'll post some pics in a bit.

Heckels are best left in one tank, never to be moved around. They can take up to 6 months or more to be comfortable and if you move them or the tank, or make changes, the cycle will start all over again.

I wonder if it is worth the drive from Phoenix ? 8 hours is a piece of cake for me and it's a nice drive through the desert

If you want I could take a video of them George to give you a better idea of their condition. They're pretty fat and eat well despite being skittish. I would love it if someone with experience like you could take them!

Take a video of them and I will call you this afternoon. It's only a 5 hour drive as long as the idiot drivers stay off the freeway.

Melissa the video of them look good enough to me. I will see you next Saturday to pick them up. I took the 125 in storage and set it up in my Office this afternoon for them. Of course I had to bleach it out and wash it.

Hey lady! I love the leopards I picked up from Chad. I'd love some with the ring gene. You might consider something red too. I ordered some super mandarin passions from Kevin and I think they're going to be awesome! I'm sure Chad could get Kenny to ship some down ;) But the right blue scorpions are beautiful!
