Crazy discus??????

Hi,
I'm quite worried as one of my discus in a breeding pair is every now and then swimming around the tank, hitting the sides and everything in it's way. He has woken me up 4 times last night because it's so loud.

What could be the cause of this? The female discus in the tank is absolutely fine.

Check all the usual stuff. Water quality, heater for voltage, etc. I have one that will sometimes do that when he is startled or if a "stranger" enters the fish room. Is their something that could be startling him. My pair the male sometimes does that but not the female. If it is at night maybe shadows that startle him or an active cat or something. Maybe fill out the disease question sheet so you may be able to get more help.

is the female possibly bullying the male when you're not looking? That can sometimes happen with a breeding pair... would you have a way to remove the female and see if the male stops doing that when she is not in the tank?
