Is it normal for discus to grow faster than the other? I bought 12 discus and one die. Now 11 left and some grow faster than the other. Is that normal?

Completely normal. Happens in almost all organisms.

yes!! hence its a better idea to buy the largest discus you can get.. so you don't get the SLOW growers :)
