Tapeworms are white and segmented. If the full worm exits the fish, you will see a small head on one end. Do yu have a picture? I've never seen antennae, but I've never looked that closely.

I really can't think of anything else it could be. I've never had fish with tapeworm either, but a Prazi treatment wouldn't harm the fish if it wasn't tapeworm.

Prazi quantel or prazi pro

I like PraziPro. It is easier to work with.

Hey Jennie,

I always refer to this thread for tapeworm identification.

I intro wilds to tank..thought was wormed already..is no big deal..this weekend I will buy prazi to treat the whole tank, as I'm not sure who had them likely all will eventually..
Peter thanx for link..I saw that but head part was not close enough shot

Prazi seems to be the treatment of choice for cestodes. They're not really common in aquaria, at all, because most (all?) species require an intermediate host to complete their lifecycle- sometimes that's snails, frogs, or even live foods, which is the only reason we encounter them except in wild or pond raised fish. According to Wiki, over 1000 species have been identified, so there are probably even more...

The good news is that your other fish are probably unaffected, and that the worms probably have no resistance to prazi whatsoever, coming from the wild.
