My Leopard pair recently laid eggs bunch of them, but then they decided to eat them and left 11-13 eggs unguarded so I decide to take out the cone and raise them artificially...

I remember seeing jack wattley doing this, seems impossible without a parent fish.
Good luck. Maybe you could take them to swimming then reintroduce to the parents.

Lot's of people do this ... Al has a post on it somewhere here too and there might be something on the main forum. I was looking into this just in case as well. I wanted to be prepared to do it just in case.

Do you know what your mistake was?

Carrol Frizwold (sp), Alta Dena Water Gardens, also raised all of his fry artificially over 40 years ago.

Well my mistake was the every day i clean the net and apply more paste food so the every day routine was to sock them with a tubing lane and put them in a plastic cup so I can wash the net, well while I was putting the net on the 10 gallon tank some how I push the cup to the floor and I could find but one and I put it with the parents but it would attach to them and next day it just was gone :( it was my fists time doing this so I gain some experience ...

I will end up this with the last video I took of them swimming.. thanks all..

Sorry to hear about losing them. What is the green paste?

Sorry to hear they didn't make it. Hopefully the parents will decide to raise the next batch. I tried artificial rearing with an albino batch and had no luck. If you are interested in artificial rearing, you might want to read up on what Cliff does - he's the expert around here.

Yeah no problem.. thanks for looking.

Is The Jack Wattley Formula: egg yolk, spirulina and artemia, it looks green because I put to much spirulina it should look more like yellowish ..

What did you use for your cone guard?

So the parents dont eat the eggs.

Edit: my bad. It looks to be gutter guard. I use the plastic. I'm uneasy about putting metal in a tank with very expensive fish. Without knowing what metal is safe for the tank. A lot of people use plant weights to help hold it down. I use a glass bowl for on top.

Not why did you use a cone guard but what material did you use. Looks much better than what I tried.

What did you use for your cone guard?

It's just wire mesh, it may corrode but is going to be in my tank only for 3 days so I think it's ok ..

OK so I put the egg guard and they hatch and the parents started to eating them so I decide to save 10 again to try raising them artificially one more time I will post pictures soon to see the progress thanks..

Keep trying, you can always find other way to successful artificail rasing.

My suggest is you can do pratice with angelfish artifically raise when you have lot of skills to do then you can artifically raise with discus. That is worth to try with that.

Good luck

Arturo, did you leave the egg guard up till they became free swimming and then they ate them?

Yes I did but it was like 1/2 inch away from the cone so when they hatch some how the parents were able to suck them, even the ones the fell down so when they went down to 1o I pull them out and I'm going to try artificial again :) it seen like they want to lay egg again. This time I just going to let them do their thing I'm not going to mess with them and see if it works..
