Remember!! if they are out of the tank you want.. REQUEST A RAIN CHECK!! it is good for any that tank size when they get it in back in stock.. even if after the sale..
but i have heard of some managers that WON'T do it.. i had 2 rain checks from two different petco's.. just ask manager nicely..

thanks i may need to try that since there was only one of the size im looking for out in the store, but im pretty sure my friends mom is a manager so hopefully there wont be a problem.
and i was wondering if anyone knows if the 29 gallon tanks are included in the sale?
in the past.. the tanks on sale are as follows...

Checked mine out today and the manager said it will be on the 26th!
1 dollar per gallon usually they do this on sunday only.:)
it last for a week or two or 3.. it is not one day.. but they will sell out if you wait :)

Had to have been at least 2 weeks last year, probably longer. But they can always change how long. I'm sure someone who goes to petco in the next day or 2 will chime in
what i do remember.. is that they don't order again during the sale.. they sell out of 29/20 really quick.. 40g.. tend to stay :)

He sold the old 29s for profit then bought 2 new 29s. I'm guessing very smart indeed

yes it is. . . If he had old 29s and sold it for more than 29 dollars and went to buy 2 new 29s its still profit for him and he gets 2 NEW 29s. Unless theres a "side" story to him selling the first 29s i dont' know about.

i doubt petsmart would do the price match since their tanks come with a hood and light while petco's tanks dont, but that just might be the stores by me.
and now i really wanna hurry and pick up a tank!!
they price match off the internet.. just print out the CHECK OUT CART without buying.. they will match that :)

Evelyn, I did not see the sale advertised. When I went in they had a small display of tanks stacked in a pyramid with a $1 per gallon sign on the tanks. I only picked up one replacement 40 breeder this year. Maybe more next year.

yea they don't seem to advertise the $1 a gallon. When i went to my petco today didn't see any signs till i asked, but when i got back to the corner you can see it was 1 dollar a gallon sale but they never really made an effort to make it known it was $1 a gallon sale.

picked up 2 40breeders.. i had glass tops from my 125g.. and just added back my sponges and heaters. took out hang on back filters.. they were a little stressed from the move but i put in some salt.. and they lighten up in about 20 min :)
you have 3 weeks people.. remember.. if they don't have the size you want.. GET A RAIN CHECK>. it can be redeemed when they get that size back again.. even if its after the sale..

I did not dig that deep...A couple of years ago they had it on a banner at the top of their home page. That was as far as I looked. Getting lazy with age I guess.

Damn. i want more but not allowed to have any more tanks at the house. already have 3-20H, 2-30's and 1-40B sitting empty in the garage from last time they did back to back $1 per gallon sale.

how would 3 do as they grow
well, i grew out about 12 in a 29.. i pulled out the 5 largest (about 4+ inches.. and put them in 75 with other larger fish.. as of last sunday.. i tore down the 30/29g and replaced with 40g from petco :) i love the 18" depth!

Well, I did it. I managed to walk away without buying a single tank. Norm put his hand to my forehead, lol Good prices but I have way too many tanks, lol, wait did I just say that....I'm going to make an appointment with the doctor immediately, lol.
i just luv my 40 breeders!!! they are way better then the 30long and 29g!!!

This is kind of a rant about the supposed 1 dollar per gal sale.
I picked up 10 of the 40 gallon breeders for an upcoming fishroom project .
The price on the tanks says 40 dollars after the petco savings.
They charge you the tax on the original price which is 109.00 so with tax it comes up to 48.00 and change.
There's not one calculation on my receipt that had 40.00 on it so how can they have it priced at 40.00?
If that tank was 40.00 as shown on the price tag my cost should have been 42.80 per tank.
I'm getting together an email to the company to express my dissatisfaction with their false advertisement on the so called one dollar per gallon sale.
I don't know what world all you people grew up in but to me a pricetag that says 40 bucks means 40 bucks and you pay the 7% tax on 40 bucks.
Am I right?

It has to do with how they ring it up, they charge you full price+ tax then discount it with your petco pals card. I'd really like to see proof that those taxes are actually going to the state and not there pockets.But seriously you bought 10! My wife just about moved me to the garage when I brought home 2! Kent

Yep that makes 13 and I'm getting another used one off craigslist this week:)
It's just the 40 dollar price is very deceiving, I'm gonna raise heck about it, I see a restraining order in my future.
