For the first time I've successfully raised some wigglers to about 1 to 1 and 1/4 inch size. I've got 9 of the guys in a 46 gallon bb tank (only tank I had available). Daily w/c's, everybody eating, happy to see me, etc.

Yesterday I saw a very thin (size of a fine human hair), white, 1/2 long wiggling worm in the water column.

Any successful breeders out there have this experience? Thanks, -Don

Hi Don, My guess without seeing the pics would be bristle worms. They come out and multiply when there is excess food in the water. What are you feeding the babies?

A pic would be nice or this will be a guessing game

Thanks for the replies. It may be from overfeeding, although I just cleaned the canister filter, and I vacuum once a day. I'm feeding pro-growth flakes in an auto feeder, and then freeze dried black worms in the evening. I couldn't get a pic because I vacuumed the worm before I thought about it. In any case, I also think it may be planaria, so I'll just keep my routine going and see for now. Ed, I never heard of bristle worms . . . I'll have to look those up.

Are there any non-marine bristle worms!?

Sounds like planaria, as mentioned clean more, feed less and it should clear up.

I once had some appear in my "clean" tank just after cleaning the hob filter.
