thanks wendy, i have about 70 2 1/2 month old fry in a 55gal and I feel lucky to have them because their last 2 spawns didnt make it past 5-6 days. but they look more comfortable again this time. I just added more pics of the 55gal.

what is your waters TDS/hardness?

Are you sure these are 2 1/2 months old? What is your feeding regimen?

Is that a red alenquer crossed with a Silver (maybe Blue) Pidgeon? will be interesting to see what the fry turn into. ..

not sure about the hardness, ph is low about 6, amonia is high like 2ppm. they were laid april 17 so about 2 month and a week old. Change two 5gal bkts everyday mostly a r/o tap mix. some days i have no r/o so i use my tap in between. my tap has really high ph so i normally add acid buffer to the tap. any advice is greatly appreciated.
Feeding frozen bbs mostly.. 4x day and some crushed flake once or twice. I ran out of bbs, but it seems they like the beefheart/cichlid delight. hopefully the store will have more frozen bbs tomorrow.

seem very small for 2 1/2 months and not sure but it looks like maybe some deformities normally associated with lack of mineral content in water (*maybe just the pics though). Nice looking parents but not the best of crosses. The majority of your fry will be highly peppered. Good expieriance though. Looks like a 55 gallon tank, need to change more water daily and frozen bbs is not the best of foods for fry.

Matt,

Just for a reference at 2 1/2 months they should be approaching this size:

These are actually almost 3 months in this picture but you get the idea.

wow they look amazing, im gonna do 2 bkts wc morning + 2bkts at night, latley its only been 2 bkts at night. where do you keep your ph/temp in the growout tank and in the breeding tank.

I don't bother with monitoring my ph, if I had to guess I would say about 7.6 -7.8 in my growout tanks. I do montior TDS with I keep at or around 200 PPM in my growouts and 40-50 in my breeding tanks (as soon as I have fry I bring this up to 200 slowly).

Two buckets (I am guessing 5 gal buckets) in the morning and two at night is still a bit on the low side for a 55 gallon. Two buckets in the morning and then 50% at night might suffice. I think your fry are underfed and lacking in a proper diet. Frozen BBS is no substitute for Live BBS and has little nutritional value. I would get them on beefheart ASAP, with maybe some FDBW and a good flake. Truth be told, the damage is probably already done to this discus, better (closer) pictures would help immensly.

great, thanks for the info. i will work on getting more detailed pics. brand new camera gotta get the settings right. Do use digital testers to measure the TDS. Oh yea and my current batch of wigglers were relocated to the sponge filter overnight, will they be ok with the sponge filt running because thats my only filtration in there?
