I have 2" plus Tefe Green F1 fry for sale. I will ship. I am selling them for $25.00 a piece with a minimum of 6 fish. If 10 or more are puchased I will discount total price by $10.00. Shipping and boxing will be extra. They are raised in tap water Ph of 8 and slightly hard. They eat Spectrum Grow Pellets.
Below are photos of the parents and several of the fry as well as a few 1 year old grow outs from the same pair.

These are a great way to get a nice school of Tefes at a fraction of the cost if you are willing to grow them out. I hope you enjoyed the photos.

I keep the parents in RO water when I am spawning them. Otherwise I do keep them in tap as well.

I will let you know tomorrow. I might be able to ship through Delta on a direct flight if you are willing to pickup at the airport. I will compare the price tomorrow and let you know. PM me with how many you are interested in and I can get you a better quote. I find it is about 2.2 pounds per fish.

Were they starting to spawn in tap? or did you put them in ro then they spawned?

No all of my potential breeding stock are in RO water to find legitimate pairs. I put the pairs in tap to stop the spawning or more accurately fertile eggs, I only have so much tank space. Between the Tefe fry and the Heckel X fry I have 8 65's dedicated to raising them and today will add two more 65's. I don't want to expand beyond that. The Penang female would likely lay eggs regardless of water quality and of course the male will follow along.

I keep mine in ro/tap mix. I was just wondering if anyone had the greens spawning in the same tap as mine... thanks for the replies.

Here are a couple of updated photos of the fry. They are approximately 2 1/2 plus inches now. The are just starting to show the dark halo and the red pecs and a little bit of color on the face.

They are looking sweet, Jim...Not to rant, but it's beyond me why folks will buy wild caught, without much experience, and a wonder on what they bought, when they could have some fabulous F1's of known origin and parentage...No health issues such as worms, possible flagellate infections of the nervous system, etc....'m still in KY, but will be back in the Northern Plains by the weekend....

People like I with little experience buy wild caught because snookn had fully grown tefe green living in tap water with high ph for 60$ a piece and you can buy 1,2,3 whatever. I would have loved jamesp fry but I wanted adults. I did not have room to buy six at a time nor the money to pay 150 a piece for semi adults. No disrespect to you James in any way. Not to mention if qt is done right and quality water is supplied you don't necessarily have to have the problems you stated.
My wilds are doing perfectly fine. Being I can't afford ro I'm sure they will never spawn but they will live.

I don't know what inspired you to highjack my post to somewhat impune Jim's fish or operations, but maybe you have a guilt thing or some such. My post was meant as a comment to a friend who, like myself, has a lifetime of involvement with wild Discus;not as an innuendo to any person or persons .....I buy wild caught, F1's and F2's, but I know what I'm getting into with each mentioned genotype. But presently, there are several threads which I'm sure you are aware of that involve issues with wild caught's that stem from their life in the wild. and, like I mentioned, do not exsist per se in F1's and F2's....Best of luck to you with your newly aquired fish; my first Discus were wilds which I aquired back in '62

I did not intend at all to hijack your thread turque or to impune jamesps' fish. I was a person very interested in his fish and got quotes more than once. Being that I did so I often check on threads that I've visited as others do and saw your comment. All I was saying is that some people as I don't have many options. When talking to Jim he didnt want to sell only a few fish but 6 at a time rather. There was simply no way, with my setup that I could purchase the fish. Also as he has juvies it is the exact reason I got adults. I didn't have time to feed many times, monitor water changes ect... I was only giving you a point of view as you said you wouldn't see why anyone would get wilds over his. If memory serves me correct you posted updated pics of his f1s and I loved the turn out, just couldn't accompany so many at once. I apologize if it came off in any wrong way, as I clearly told Jamesp it was no disrespect to him in any way.

Gary first of all thanks for the kind word and I hope your fish are doing well in you abscence. I don't know what motivates some people. I guess since he said no disrespect to JamesP it makes it ok to stomp all over my posting for fish for sale and even mentioning someone else who sells fish on the forum. Nice touch.
Yes he approached me with quite a few options(to Many to be honest) to buy some of my fish. The last as I recall he wanted one larger one and a few smaller ones not a good option. I lost track after a while. 5" plus fish that I had been raising for about 8 months or more are always going to be more than something out of the wild. By the time he made up his mind I had already sold the fish. If he feels a few adults at 60 each beats $25 a piece for my fish that is fine. I just wish he would do it in a more appropriate location than my listing of fish for sale. I guess somethings come with age. That said since he rained on my posting here is what F1s look like at 7 months and a year. These are all in a 115 photo taken from the end of the tank. A little patience in growing your own does pay off. I wish him well with his fish.

I'm not positive of this, but I don't think we can ship back and forth accross the US/Canada border without a huge customs hoop..If I'm wrong, someone point it out to me, as there are Canadian importers I'd like to recieve wilds from....

Gary, much easier to receive from Canada than to ship to Canada. When I got my wilds from Oliver Lucanus I had to get an import permit thru US Fish and Wildlife. Then you have to find out your closest international approved port of entry and contact them to set up customs inspection. It's not worth the cost and trouble for one box of fish, but if getting several then the costs and time involved becomes more manageable.

TURQ64
09-18-2011, 09:17 PM
The permit's a piece of cake here in SD, as I checked into it before..fifty bucks to the state..Minneapolis is closest inspection point....Haven't moved on it, maybe, maybe not..
