I honestly would like to see a picture of a discus that is older than 3 years old. Keep this thread with pics, good for new entries.

If I can find my old kodak prints of my community tank from the 1980's I'll scan some pics of my, at the time, 6 year old heckel. He lived to be at least 8 years old. I sold him to my LFS owner who put him in his own tank and kept me updated on him for 2 years.

Awesome! I hope mine live long like all of yours. I would love to see some pics of older discus!!

I perform weekly water changes of about 15% but my tank is immaculately clean...I have a great cleanup crew :)

I have had mine for one month and three days. Three seem to be growing well, two seem to be growing a lot slower. I would love to post pics but, just can not figure it out.

I had a little female pigeon blood I bought as a 3" juvie in 1991 that lived by herself in a planted 55 gallon tank until she died in 2003.

Wow, I thought mine was old! My 6 year old turk is slightly stunted and is starting to look old now? (Color is getting slightly dulller). She must still be fairly healthy as she is still thich body and tries to mate -although infrequently as I havent seen any attempts in some months now.

I usually get rid of them after 4 or 5 years. I believe this fatty female is pushing 6 this year...

Why do you get rid of them? I would figure one would get fonder of such a beautiful pet. I thought the attachment be stronger.

1+ she does look huge...pushing 8"?

I sell em, trade em, just to get different fish. Yeah, she's a little over seven.

She actually had other tankmates over the years. Mostly tetras and cories. But she never had any other discus with her. She laid eggs on the glass a few times even without any other discus with her.
I guess she must have had some good genes.
