Not bad for a first discus. The cloudy eyes kind of worry me though

it could just be the pics but its also possible that it has something internal since the other two discus it was with at the lfs were pretty bad

no no thats my sad excuse for a tv haha

Hi how have you got that External filter higher than your tank I thought they had to go below because of gravity?

They do run alot better if the inlet is lower than the tank. His isnt really super high but might perform better down lower.

I am new to Discus too.
Don't you need a few Discus to keep them happy? I have heard a minimum of 6 is required?

The turk is sometimes referred to as 'Zebra' due to the vertical pattern of some of the striations..I dodge most things in the name game and just call them 'Red Turquoise'...Seems to be a few issues going on as well...Expect some interference from the fin nippers..There's what looks to be a bacterial issue beginning due to the cloudy, sawtoohed look of the caudal fin...And the amount of algae is suspect as seen on the left side glass..Algae and Discus don't usually mix well..Algae needs a lot of nitrates to flourish, and Discus don't like much for nitrates......

29 gallon is not too small for discus, you can put a few in there and they'll be happy.

There is a rule of thumb that says you need 10 gallons for each discus. Also, discus are a schooling fish, so you need at least 5, better 6. This means that a minimum tank size for discus is around 50 gallons, preferably more. You fish looks great but if you want to make it happy you need a bigger tank.

Hi, I would as said control your nitrates and maybe get a UV sterilizer, your Discus is a Ruby Red Mosaic part of the Turquoise strain,
very nice.

Ben.
