First of all Hello everyone.

Names Jesse, brand new here, but not to fish. owned african cichlids for 6 years now and love them.

Discus is a new venture for me, one that ive always wanted to take on. Must say it seems overwhelming. But Im confident i can keep up with these beauties!

My new tank is a 120g... got it for 50 bucks!!!!!!

My main ? is about it being pre-drilled on the bottom.

I pretty much get how to plumb it to a wet/dry sump but im still confused on the prevention of power outage overflow. Could someone poss illustrate this for me?

Here is my 120g for refererence. Thanks in advance everyone!

Jesse

you might want to look at the safety of beananimal system:

very good deal on the tank

A power outage-caused flood is easily avoided with proper planning. There are many ways to prevent this, among them having a sump with a large enough 'empty' capacity, having siphon breaks, and even one way check valves.

That BeanAnimal system that andy referred to is nice, if not a little complicated to setup (you'll have to drill more holes in your tank). A little easier system to setup is the Herbie-style system (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=344892). If offers the same benefits, can be adapted for the overflow boxes you already have. The only con is that it isn't quite as redundant as the BeanAnimal setup. Send me PM if you want to ask more specific questions.
