Check this link for grading. Less red color higher the grade and more expensive.

This is a really bad photo, but you can see the size of the juvies...(there's really tiny 1/8 incher's, up to around 1/2 inch)......I've got about sixty, but I need to let about half grow another few weeks....they are producing like crazy, so we should have some every week or two thru the summer.....I'm not great at grading, but there's tiger tooth and some no entry's swimming by...

TURQ64

I keep 'em in a 15g, but will be expanding to a 30b..just some LFS gravel, a sponge filter, a small heater, some Java moss and good, clean, neutral ph water..(sound familiar?) I find it hard to believe that Discus keeper's can have trouble raising shrimp..I think it's like fallin' off a log, myself!

Nice to see your shrimp os breeding. I started with around 25 in a separate tank like 6 months ago and now i have none. Mine was in a 5 gal though. I read it needs atleast 10 gal.

How much are you asking?

Four Yankee Frogskins each, groups of five, and around fifteen shipping......Shipping bags on order, and I recommend a twenty Gallon..looks naked until they mature, but easier to maintain good water quality (the secret to shrimps, IMO).....they are really subject to nitrates, and they are easier to control in a 20....

To those with an interest in these shrimp: They're really doing great, growing fast..I have the bags to ship them enroute, but I have to go to KY midweek, so we may have to pick up this transaction when I get back from the road trip if they don't arrive timely...Gary

I did betta's in the past; and even in jars underway aboard ship!....Shrimp are waay cool...they just left BTw, and the tank was 78 degrees, 6.8 ph, and tds of 200..it can be lower, I just have some calcium added in mine due to all the baby shrimplets in there....enjoy!....Gary

TURQ64

They prefer pretty soft stuff....it's all relative; my tap is really high at about 480

If you keep any soft water species fish, then they're easy to maintain......low ph, soft water, medium temps...some bio filtration..

MadDiscus; see post #16 for details above..

Skip; yep, more white the better in CRS..the most prominent ones you see are 'tiger tooth', and there are some coming to you that have a 'stop sign' (no entry) shape..all great grades of shrimp....

Gary,

How do these do in the tanks with discus and cories? Once my 75 has settled I would like to add some if they would do well.

Gary,

How do these do in the tanks with discus and cories? Once my 75 has settled I would like to add some if they would do well.

It's a size issue on several fronts..Shipping of shrimp is usually done with tiny juvies, as they survive the trip the best...They would all be expensive Discus supper at that size...I've seen adults fooling around with Discus, but it's the old addage of if it can fit in their mouth, it will end up there.....JMO,

09-10-2011, 11:57 AM
yea... they would be eating buy discus.. and 75 is too big for shrimp.. it will look very barren.. but i totally recommend Turq's shrimp.. mine are doing great!!!

Shrimpin's fine right now,mateys!...I'm moving some of my shrimp to the new fishroom, which is allowing me to separate a few grades..When they're sorted, there'll be a better count on shrimplets..It's a good time to buy a few now, as the weather here is moderate for shipping....Pretty much the same 'ole prices..4 yankee frogskins a pop in groups of 5, plus shipping USPS...Gary

I'll try for a few new photo's later today..There's S to Mosura Crown's in there, but we usually don't grade them out on the 4 buck deal, just catch 'em..I do grade them on occasion for a few bucks more on the higher grades....Getting a batch ready for a Minneapolis storefront, so I figured I'd bump this up here before a big move again...

George, you bet, I'll send you a pm...

Here's a photo or two of some adults I moved yesterday..Had the best intent of capturing several grades and snapping each one, but..they're shrimp!..they go everywhere when pursued,so..these are parents; this time of year I only ship small juvies 'cuz they travel best...

A few more updated photo's from today...I realised there's nothing for size comparison,so..
Several folks have shown interest, and I have a few hundred in the tank, but most are really small, and won't be ready for a few weeks..Here's what I generally ship, especially this time of year...first photo, two basic 'juvie' sizes, second photo, same with an adult female (I prefer not to ship adults; they grow fast!)...US dime, wife's meatloaf dish..

A friend of mine and I got a few dozen of these fine little shrimp and they are doing great. Took a few weeks to get my tank ready but it was worth the wait. You just have to get a few a watch them swim all over the place and they are beautiful.

Thank you
George
