Pretty cool... but not exact copy. Alot of details missing on the toy wrench.

oh man. look at all the lawsuits this is gonna inspire. when I can knock off a copy
of a filter for my tank, whisper will definitely not gonna be showing me the love.
this is too cool - thanks for sharing the video terps!

they cut the time of printing - wonder how long it actually took to
print the wrench. And how much it actually cost to make the wrench.

Read the articles over at Mish's blog. They have the costs listed. Not as expensive as I thought they'd be. Maybe the powder costs a fortune.

Thanks again! The scale of a $60,000 prosthetic vs $1000 is dang impressive.

Jay Leno has one of these in his "Big Dog Garage" that his guys use to help in the replication of impossible to find parts for rare cars and motorcycles. Pretty Cool.

Saw this a few days ago and I gotta say that I'm pretty impressed. I can't wait to see what transpires in a couple of years from this - as designs keep on getting improved and what not.

I didn't watch the video, but these are usually based off of plastics and/or ceramics so it limits what you can make with them. Leno does have one of these and there are actually some DIY 3-D printers available.

Still pretty neat and I wish I had the patience to make one of the DIY ones or the money to buy one of the commercial ones.

Well, back when I was a kid like 20 years ago. My grandfather had one of the top of the line home printers (he was an engineer so had all the in home tech equipment) and it was one of those line printers. I go from thinking about that old line printer and how amazed I was by that (I was just a kid and nobody really had printers except for the school and such) to watching this 3D printer and I'm blown away by what two decades has done to the printing industry. I know that these have their limitations and they are far from being something you'd find in every household but hey, give it a few more years.
