Hi guys i was at a pet store getting some live plants when a worker told me about how some costumer told him that choice aquarium/great lakes discus closed. Is this true? Because i really liked that store and i was going to go there soon now that my 75 gallon tank is ready for discus, but nows its suppose-ably closed. So does anyone know that it is close or not because i really want to go there again. Oh by the way i believe it was in farmington hills.

P.S was or is this the only choice aquarium/great lakes discus store?

The last time I spoke to Cary (which was months ago) he said that they were closing that store amd moving it accross the street.

He said right across the street from where the old one was. They were able to buy the building. They were renting at the old place. Tell Cary that Liz said Hi.

The first time we chatted I got his number from his web site. The next time he called me. He agreed that the economy sucks, but said that he was doing well. That's all I know.

Hey i just drove by choice aquariums yesterday and they are not moving sadly. There was a piece of paper inside the building on the wall hung up saying "going out of business". So sadly they closed down.............

My heart breaks. I'm sure it's the same for all of us who remember Cary from the days when he was "The Man" around here. Damn economy.

Sad to hear . Cary was just the manager so is not that bad for him as for oliver the owner. Visited two or three times when we were showing our dogs in Detroit . They had a very nice shop, the pump room was very High Tech , they had marine fish , lots of discus , lots of exotic plants and it was always very nicely tended to and clean.
I am sure Cary has his basement full of breeding stock

Roberto.

I hope.... And if he does i hope he stays in michigan... Because then i could just stop by his place to see what hes got in stock. Maybe he'll join simply and become a discus breeder. That would be great :). But im still mad about the store closing because i went there when it was open looking at fish and thats when i saw all these different types of discus and then i started wanting to get discus, and so then i decided to get a discus tank. And now that i have one ready to get some discus they close! Oh well....

Cary IS a memember of Simply and in the past was a top class Discus breeder.

If you liked the fish at the shop call Hans. He'll fix you up.

I was going to head down to Choice, glad I read this thread. Saved me about 2 hours of driving only to find out they are closed. I hope Cary does open another store. I met him a few years back and was a wealth of information for me.
