Rena Filters

I have been having problems with my XP 3 filter. I clean it one a month but it gets clogged up with in a couple of weeks. Is there something wrong with this filter.

Your water probably is pretty dirty.

I have a barebottom tank with 4 medium size discus and I don't overfeed and clean up after they are done. I read the instructions and they said use the 3 foam filters at the bottom of the filter. Am I doing something wrong?

I use prefilter sponges on the intakes and clean those about every other day.

do you change the other filters? the micro-filter and whatever other filters you are using? my xp3 seems working fine.

I changed all the sponge filters with new ones last night, I will report at the end of August if there is any change.

I only use two Rena course sponges in the bottom of mine and then one cotton layer at the top. I can easily go a month and it won't be clogged.
