ehhh, should I say, "Old fish"?
Well, my newly acquired discus pair learned a new trick today. Ever since I got them a couple of weeks ago, I have been feeding them live California blackworms (thanks Dan!). This is their favorite I can tell. Well, some of the blackworms fall to the bottom where there's a thin layer of pool filter sand. the worms will penetrate the sand and only poke their heads out. The discus seem not to be able to find them anymore. As the days go by, you can imagine there are more and more worms buried in the sand with only their heads out. Well today I have seen my discus learn a new trick. They will blow the sand and expose the worms, and then eat them! All worms are gone in minutes, leaving many dens on the sand surface. It's quite a view to watch the discus blowing sand LOL!
