Well the fish like it, the leaves are still green, roots are growing, and no snails or parasites so far...

Was it a individually pre-packaged plant or from a stocked tank? I doubt there would be an issue from the pre-packaged plants I've seen at their stores.

Either way, now that it's in your tank, I'd wait and see rather than treat for the unknown.

You may get a few unwanted snails from it, but otherwise, it's probably no big deal. If your store is like most Pet Smart stores around my area, the plants are kept in a special made plant tank, on a separate system from the fish, under a metal halide light.

I know the PetsMarts I have visited here are no longer selling plants out of a tank. They are pre-packaged and the plant is in that gel stuff to keep it alive as it lasts longer. Also they are marked Garanteed to have no snails. Of course you never know for sure. Anyway it is a single plant in one of those round plastic tubes. If it is what I am thinking of then you should be fine as long as you followed the instructions and washed the plant in tap water before putting in the tank.

LOL, like Darrell said, it was exactly what my petsmart is like. It was just a potted plant under a light, with a bunch of other plants in the tank. Before I put it in the tank, i rinsed it with water. I just don't want a snail manifestation...

I freaked out when I first read your post. I thought you were talking about a Sword FISH. I was literally said out loud... "What are you doing? Stop..." The plant should be fine as long as there were no fish around it. Snails can be an eye sore but other than that I haven't seen any issues.

Will alum kill my amazon sword? I really like it; it's like 6 inches and we only bought it for 3 dollars from a clearance...ROFL

why would i tell you something that would kill your plant..
ALUM kills the SNAILS on the plants.. so you don't INTRODUCE them into your tank
