After reading all the good things about Hans on this forum. I finally decided to take the plunge and ordered a bunch from him. A big bunch for my tank. The tank has been up and running for over 2 month with just Rummy Nose, Neons and some Corys. I did have some reservations on having fish shipped even though the journey from Hans to my house on Long Island was not that far. Just thinking the amount of the stress of living in a small bag for a whole day.
I ordered them last Wed from Hans to be delivered on Friday morning. I took off the morning on Friday to make sure they are out of the bag and into the tank ASAP. The FedEx truck arrived at my house on Friday at 10:05AM. All fish were in the tank by 10:30AM. All were in good shape except one. One of the 3" pigeon blood Red either had a bad case of jet lag or did not like Long Island and would prefer to be back in Baltimore as he was laying on its side on the bottom of the tank for most of the day. I emailed Hans the pictures of the fish at 10:45AM. Hans called me back 15 minutes later telling me that the pigeon does look like he misses Baltimore. Hehe;), only kidding. Hans said give him sometime. He will be fine. I checked on him after work in the evening and at around 8pm, he was still swimming a little sideways but he was not laying down anymore. The following morning, he was all good. I guess he is starting to like Long Island after all. :)
Here are some pictures of the new guys. Oh, unlike my older guys, these new guys ate brewmaster15's freeze dried bloodworms right away. P.S. Thanks warlock4169 for the egg crate advice. I divided the tank in half but it is more like 3/4 now. The new guys asked for more space even though they are little. Strange thing happened to the Rummy Noses though. They use to be all over the tank. Now they stay to the other side of the egg crate and only venture to the Discus side when they smell food.

Now the older guys. I bought this bunch from a local breeder and kept them in a 55 gallon tank as starter discus. At $15 each, they were reasonable actually, he gave me 2 extra so it cost less than $15 each. They were all about 1.5" when i put them in the tank. There were a total of 10 when i started, now there are 6 remaining. They are approaching the 4" mark except the 2 solid melon colored. One of the Melon is growing fast and around 3" now and the other is around 2" stunted but growing also. The Melons were only quarter size when i got those from a different breeder. I lost a few but i learn a lot from the experience. They are all about 4-5 month old. I do 100% water change on these guys every day. It took them 2 weeks before they ate the brewmaster16's blackworms but now they eat 16 freeze dry blackworm cubes each day and they are still hungry after that. Someday soon, i would like these guys to join the new guys but i will wait a few month before i do so. P.S. sorry for the picture quality. They were taken from my new cell phone the HTC Inspire. I am still learning how to use it. Plus, i try to tell the fish to swim still and they ignored my command.
When i first got them. you can see how small the Melons were. I lost that yellow one 2 days after arrival. He ate so much that he was bloated and i found out about epson salt too late.
