I just recently realized that my red turquoise and tefe discus occasionally have "bars" on their bodies, and sometimes they don't.
mine only show stress bars when they are bullied by the boss. once in a while lol

LOL same here, whenever the marlboro and pigeon blood attack them, they just start running like crazy :P

Protective coloration to blend in with their surroundings when threatened....vertically compressed fish such as Discus and Angels hide in weeds and sticks..

Well not entirely black, sort of greyish whenever they attack.

And then turns back into orange or red again after 10 minutes.

They should be considered more mood bars than stress bars.

True, definitely true. Now they bars are gone. Give them 10 minutes and they're back.
