what kind is dexter?

This is a rescue fish I got from a family that killed all their other discus-- he was black as pitch, but after five months in hospital ahs finally come round. I know he's less than perfect, but he's my rescue, so I am fond of him-- but what kind is he? anyone have any ideas?
