Hi everyone,

My water provider just made drastic changes to the the parameters of water provided. They dropped the KH five degrees (down to 3 from 8+), and started pumping chorine. Not a bad change, although now having to deal with chorine is a little frustrating.

Problem is it has stressed all my discus out, and I'm loosing baby angels @2/day (I'm trying to become an angel breeder). But I guess the real problem is I don't want to be at the mercy of the water company whenever they make a change.

I shifted the discus to store bought RO for their DWCs. But it's not possible for the angels, as I have ~150g of water for babies alone plus another ~120g on the way.

Most RO units are only 30-75g per day. Some of the professional series are 1000g/d; but I don't know the brands.

I figured the people that would know the most about RO would be fellow discus fanatics.. So what suggestions does anyone have?

Dan here with elite aquaria has them, and there's always ebay...100 to 150gpd units are becoming the norm; I run several....

I'll be more clear. I'm looking to have 300g RO/day. Is buying multiple 150g the norm?

I'll leave that question to Gary or someone else. I've never needed anywhere near that much RO a day and I hope I think it stays that way. I've already got at least three times as many tanks as I ever thought I would, and I think that's about enough.

Normal municipal water pressure can run up to 150g per day RO system, you start hooking up units above that capacity then you're talking about adding a pressure pump to your unit. Better question to ask Dan and figure out costs.

I used to run a 450 gpd ro system. It was basically 3 x 150gpd piggy backed. I didn't need a pump as the mains pressure is around 70psi. It did not produce enough water for me, so I now have a 4,000 gpd system ;)

I'm presently running four units on very low rural water pressure. lower pressures create more reject/waste..mine are piggybacked, and i just use a four way manifold for multiple hose connections.

A company here in Western North Carolina will build you any size industrial grade RO unit from 5 gals. per minute up to millions of gals. per day. LOL! Whatever you need.http://r3watertechnologiesllc.thomasnet.com/item/all-categories/reverse-osmosis-systems/item-1003?&forward=1
