Hi everyone I had the pleasure of meeting Second Hand Pat the other day when I bought her Nhamunda reds and one of her uatama blues. Really good looking and they have adapted quite well to my tank. They are already eating and following me around the tank when I'm near by. They are so calm it is really relaxing to watch.

Checked them out.

Linda, they look great in your tank and sound like they have settled right in and called it home.

Pat gave me some frozen black worms and a seafood mix that she made up. They love the black worms and seafood they pick at. I just got them so Pat will have to take the credit for them looking great.

Aznman1, they take flake (Kens flake), BH mix, Al FDBWs, frozen/live blackworms and live red wigglers and now seafood mix.

Boy Linda, that did not take very long :) Are they taking the seafood mix well? I had just introduced them to it the week before you picked them up.

They're great-looking discus in either substrate, Linda, but just my opinion, they look better, i.e. have a sharper 'wild' coloration, in the darker substrate. (Although maybe it's just the angle & lighting.)
Superb fish you provided Linda with, Pat !

Thanks Paul, these are the wilds which are in the your basic discus guide. I prefer the lighter substrate with these guys but just a personal choice.

Oh this is really bad. I was going to post that #24 was my favorite pic by far. I love the color in it. Then you use that pic to do the before and after comparison.

So.... Pat, now that those wilds are no longer in your collection, what, oh what, do you have planned for your next addition ? Or is that being kept a big secret for now ? !!! lol

Paul, I have a 230 gallon which has a group of 9 tefes which is a very pretty biotope. There is a build thread in my homestead section. I'm about to redo the 100 gallon which will house the Wild F1 Cuipeau juvies I am growing out in a 40 breeder and I am playing with two pairs (wild male/wild X female) who are both laying eggs. So my house is rocking. :)

Well i guess I like both, but now that I changed it to the lighter substrate even the fish love it, more active.

Pat the answer to your question to the seafood mix they are not really crazy about it they will pick at it but really not their favorite right now. Trying some other stuff with them as well. Was able to get some live black worm yesterday which they went crazy over. Once or twice a day I make a black/red blood worm, spiturlina, krill mix for them and then supplement with the flake food which they don't go for too much.

Their color has really come out and look better each days as it goes by.

Hey Pat if you ever think about letting loose some of those tefe let me know.

Linda, none of my guys are crazy for the flake/seafood mix either. I drop it in and they are like "Hey where the worms" and I have to walk away (like a mom saying eat your vegetable) and give them a couple hours to eat it. :). Will do on the tefes.

Hi Pat, hope all goes well with you, not been on too much lately. The wilds are not too crazy with the mix so I stop using it. I do need to get some blackworm, was wondering about how long yours last and what was the size of your batch so I can gauge how much I would need to get.

I quit feeding it to my guys too. I added a can of oysters to the mix and think that may turn the fish off. I got 10+ lbs from Dan (link below) and expect it to last me 6 months or so. 10+ lbs is a lot of worms and I have 17 adult plus 6 juvies. If you have the freezer space I think the 10+ is a decent value.
