Hi all,

I have been into my Cichlids for many years and spend so much time on the hobby that I thought I better spend all that energy on some fish which require the effort, my Cichlids seem unimpressed. :)

I am buying all the equipment first.

The tank will 120 x 45 x 45 = 243L / 65G approximately not taking into consideration the loss of volume from decorations etc.

I am planning to buy a JBL CrystalProfi e900/e1500 and am not sure which one???

The 900 @ 900L per hour for tanks 90-300L makes me wonder if the water filtration will be enough for discus.

The 1500 @ 1500L per hour for tanks 200-600 makes me feel happy with filtration but woried about waterflow being too strong.

Any ideas?

1 x e900 or 2 x e900 or 1 x e1500? How much will my Discus to be need?

Thank you!!!

i am not familiar with these filters. IMO, more filter is better and if it's strong you could lower water flow by adding the spray bar. Also from time to time, filters get weak a little. If money and space are not an issue, I suggest 2x e900 just in case 1 of them stop working you still have the other to support and easy to remove 1 of them if water flow to strong. Plus you always have good filter reserve in case you want another tank or bigger :)

Good Luck!!!

as you know your going from cichlids to cichlids! lol. just ones that will appeciate the time spent on maintenance. i used to have oscars and arowanas. big difference. :) ive got a ehiem 2217 and a aqua clear 70 on my 75 gallon and it is not at all to much current. i even have a power head to move water across the back wall and a air stone in the corner for updraft too. :)
