So I have this submersible pump that came with a salt water set up and was used in the sump for pumping water back into the tank. Now I want to use the pump to transfer fresh water from my storage tank to my discus tank for water changes because it has a much higher MPG rate that the one I use now. But I have a couple of questions before I do anything.
1) Would it be safe to use as is? Or

2) Can I attempt to clean it out by running it in a bucket full of water mixed with some sort of fish safe cleaner (i.e vinegar or any recommended way you guys can give me)

3) Or should I just not use it?
Thank you

BODYDUB,

At minimum I would run it in a bucket of bleach water. Be sure to run it after that in a bucket of clean water to get the bleach out. Bleach will kill just about anything.

Best wishes!

just to be extra safe, run some dechlorinator into it with the fresh water. Will neutralize the bleach.
