so I have my tank set up with slate set on top of rocks. but my biggest DISC the RSG has taken over the left side of the tank as he hangs out under the slate and NUBS away other DISC that come around also my HECKEL does the same on the right side under slate . I have high lighted the to areas im talking about in RED. Im not sure if this is the best kind of set up it becauses it is to my DRAMA in the tank and i dont want to stress out any DISC but it happens offten. I think I have mostly males out of my 9 Disc total with maybe 2 of them female . its a 55g tank. as you can see it is live plante with sand bottom.

I was thinking of getting more drift wood and get ride of the raised slate ??? any thoughts or tips

just my opinion but that is a good tank, for Africans. I would replace all the rock with wood and some tall plants.

I posted on this elsewhere, but the poor connection erased it..I had a similar setup years back for Africans..After a year, it crashed during a wc, and cracked the tank...injured a few fish, but steered me away from rock construction. Even now, when doing wc's, my large driftwoods still fall over when the water leaves....Gary

edit: Nice green in the beginning of your vid. The Heckel looks stressed, tho'........

Rock construction is heavy. Too much stress on the glass for my comfort. Looks scary, discus can also get beat up on rocks. Wood is more natural for them. I would remove it.

i have removed the rock. i just left afew river rocks on the bottom but no more stacked up with slate on top. and i added afew more live plants. yes 1 of my discus did get a lil scrap on the side but its about 90% healed it wasnt bad to start with : /

i really didnt like the drama in the tank with the 2 " HIDEING SPOTS " after watching them each night. and looking at many other tanks on the forum i changed thankful changed the decor to make more relaxed for the Discus !!!

just waiting for the sand to resettle and I can move them back into the big tank and out of my bare bottom

thanks again
