THIS IS NOT A DISCUS. But this forum is about the only one I trust.

This is one of my wife's platinum angel juvies; it seems to have an open sore or hole in it's side. I've never encountered something like this, anyone have any suggestions?

She takes care of her water pretty well, WC every 2-3days. ammo/ites 0, ates <20ppm

WL; still not an option for me.

She's trying to grow this batch up into at least one breeding pair. Unfortunately, she bought 10 of them from aquabid (first&last aquabid purchase) and all but 4 have died. She can't loose another and still have a good chance of at lease one M/F.

Should mention; this only showed up a day ago. It is an infection of some kind.

I'd try erythromycin, kanamycin, or a similar antibio in a separate qt tank......maybe furan 2, but it's pretty weak for an ulcerated area like that..

Any idea what disease it could be?

Hopefully it is just one of many bacterial infections and not something viral. QT it get some kanamyacin (seachem kanaplex is the easiest to find) and treat it every 48 hours with a water change between for 3 treatments. that should wipe any bacterial infection out. To be more effective you can combine in bifuran or furan-2. If you cannot get kanamycin right away order it from the closest supplier to you and start treating with furan-2 or even maracyn-2 until the kanamyacin gets to you.
