Hi,

Just wondering if anyone try this. If we raise the water temp to say 50 F (no fish in the tank). Will that kill the fluke and the egg as well ?

Any sharing is greatly appreciated.

Raise 50 deg F!? Do you have an outdoor tank in the Arctic Circle? Just messing with you. :D

I have heard Ick can not survive in high water temps. But as for parasites I am not sure... but I am guessing that it would take higher then 50Deg F if it is possible.

Actually I have done that several times to get rid of ick. I boil the water and mix it with the tank water. It wont take long before the temp reach 50 F or even higher.

You are mixing something up. 50F is cold, not hot

Maybe he meant 50 degrees F above where it's at now? Also, I have used 93 degrees F to kill ick, worked great.

Good point Don. 50 C would give you about 122 F. That should also do the trick. :)

yah 122Deg F for a good amount of time should kill... most anything that is not spore forming. Make it 122 deg C just to be sure :p:angel:
