How old are they. Turning darker and shaking their bodies can be breeding behavior.

About 6 to 8 months there about 4 and half inches big. The one which died was only about 3 inches just never grew.

I think we can rule breeding out..too young and small, but there's an issue, since the 'runt' died..They don't die just 'cuz they're smaller...

I'm thinking is it some sort of parasite on them. If it is a parasite would they still eat like pigs and there poo is still normal

Ectoparasites irritate the outside, monogeneans (worms) inside...Still need the water facts,etc...Can't say whether it's a fluke, or chloramine, or ?

How much salt would you add to a240 litre tank

Its' between 1 or 2 tablespoons per 5 gallon, and a 240 is the 55 I believe, also do not use regular table salt, use either aquarium salt or kosher salt, it has to have no iodine or it will kill the fish.

I've heard this a few times on this site, where are you getting this info from just curious? I've never read that iodized salt kills and in my own experience you can use iodized salt in a pinch, it won't kill fish, but pickling or ice cream salt will be cheaper. Generally I've read (and what I follow) it is recommended to add at 1 tbs per 10 gallons or 1 tbs per 5 gallons. If you go higher than that keep an eye out for your fish acting funny.

the type of salt does not matter.

Get them in a small tank like 20 gal and start changing your water every day, all of it . Don't feed them till someone tells you too. Lots of air.
Fill out the disease questionnaire and test your water in the big tank so you can give an accurate living conditions report.
Dunno where you live but find a store that carries medications.

I would buy some prazi pro and something especially for flukes.

I would also try and find some potassium permanganate as soon as possible. You can find it at hardware stores in the plumbing section I think.

Don't go using this stuff yet, it's just so you have it and don't have to wait another day when you need it.

Hopefully someone who knows what to do will help you soon.

And try to post a picture of the fish, look for clamped fins and spots on the skin.
