New here to Simply Discus from San Diego

Hey Everyone,

My name is Mark from San Diego and I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm new to the world of Discus and this forum, I didn't know where else to post this so I posted here. I used to have a 100gal tall tank full of african cichlids until I left for vacation and came back to find out that my cousin didn't feed my fish and all 35 of my cichlids were dead :(. So here I am today getting ready to take on the challenge of having a discus tank. I'll post pictures of my tank and the background I made for my tank soon.

Must have been a very long vacation. Fish can survive months without eating. Water quality may have failed. Welcome.

I'm with Darrell on this one.

Your fish didn't die from lack of food, I'm willing to bet they died from too much food that led to water quality issues.
Could have been a combination of water quality and disease but most likely not a lack of food.
Maybe even water added to the tank without being dechlorinated.

I would surf this place for awhile and ask alot of questions before jumping into discus, even the basics can be suprising on keeping them.
