These threads/posts come up every so often...and the suggestions always mentioned is to do your homework first before getting into discus. It appears that your answer may be "NO". There is nothing positive to point out on this fish.
I hope you think I'm not being negative but just trying to help.
We are not sure how long you had this poor fish...but if it was recent, like yesterday or the day prior I would take it back to whom ever????
Give us some more info on what you did to prepare tank.....: Tank cycle, temp, tank mates if any etc...

yes.. bad shape, on verge of deformed.. stunted .. probably very undernourished for along time.. what did fish like that run for..

ps.. its ok.. WE HAVE ALL done this at the start of our Discus Journey :)

I have 60 gal tank. It was a African cichlids tank. I sold them all and put some discus. I wanted only one breading pair. But I found 7 discus 2 big, 2 medium and 3 small (7 or 8cm). All was in a 15 gal tank it is very poor water condition. I wanted to give them a good place and I thought if they can live in that small tank, they will live in my one very happy. But after buying second day small one dead and other 2 also (one is in that pic.) not eating. But adults are eating well.
Water temp 86 F, ph 7 Kh 180 (yesterday I put a buffer) NH4 0-.25, nitrite 0 nitrate 30.
I brought them 4 days ago.

If fish has been recently purchased, you must take it back immediately. Especially if you paid discus price for it.

sacgalle "(yesterday I put a buffer)" why are you adding a buffer??????? what is ph without adding?

ph was 7 and GH was 180. I went to local pet store and they gave6995069951699526995369954 me a buffer. They told ph should be 6.5 and that buffer will reduce Gh also. So i used it.

ok.. don't use the buffer..

just use good clean water.. so fish can have most CONSISTENT parameters.. swinging pH is asking for trouble..

+1 Water chemistry is always trial and error. Fish don't like the error part.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but time for some metro. And depending wich side of the fence your on,keep the temp the same or rasie it to around 91.I'm in the rasing it camp.
