Years ago I was not a fan of the tea water look, well... it grew on me. A couple months ago I picked up a free 75 gallon tank with no idea what to do with it. As I accumulated pieces over the months this is what it turned into.

75g aquarium
Fluval 305
Fluval 404 Both packed with sponges and rings
Black sand
Swahilli, Mopani and Malaysian driftwood
Alder cones and Leaf litter

Current Fauna
2 male elec blue rams
Male b Ram
3 green cory
3 black neon tetras
Platinum Angel

Plan on adding
German Blues
3-5 Discus
Schooling fish
possibly some mosses

Will be removing the tetras and the angelfish soon

Lighting is still undecided. I am currently using a stock 48" strip light. I am thinking of two hanging pendants each fitted with a par38 led bulb.

I'll get some shots of the current stand build and the tank so far.

Used LED on my discus tank, looks beautiful, almost like sunlight in their natural habitat.
Go LED.

Chillin - What type of led set up did you go with? diy or a pre built?
Not having many plants or other photosynthetics in this build I was hoping that the two led bulb would give a nice spotlighting. Idk trying to emulate the sun through the canopy. Shimmer is a nice extra.

i added a spot light led to my 75 gallon tank in addition to the single strip of compact flourescent and wow! the shimer is so nice and looks like sun coming in the tank! might have to add more leds and phase out the strip. ;)

I have the marineland LED's. I like how it brings the color out of the discus and doesn't wash them out so much like fluorescent lamps can.

Lysix,

I use the new marineland fixture mix of blue and white LED.

That's what I use. Nice lighting IMO.

Ive heard there have been a lot of issues with people using LED lighting and planted tanks in terms of getting right lighting amounts and color spectrum for plant growth. Ive not used them first hand in a planted tank yet, but they DOOOOO look really nice if you arent trying to have a planted tank.
